The 2014 Youth Olympics champion Fan Zhendong sensationally defeated world number one MA Long 11-9, 13-11, 11-8, 11-5 to clinch the China Open title.

In the women’s singles final, Ding Ning beat Liu Shiwen to add to her Rio 2016 gold from last month.

The world number two controlled the game and won 11-6, 8-11, 11-4, 10-12, 12-10, 11-8.
