Sport360 picks out the highlights of the sporting Twittersphere with Gary Lineker, Jay Cutler and Robert Lewandowski all featuring this week.
BT Sport have just nabbed the rights for showing Champions League football, with the excellent Gary Lineker as the programme’s anchor.
The station’s executive director of programming and creative, Grant Best, is thrilled, but wants the England legend to be more like he is on Twitter… usually hilarious.
“He’s one of the greatest England strikers of all time – why should he ask a defender how someone scored a goal when he can tell me himself?” asked Best.
“He does that very well on Twitter, he gives very good opinions on Twitter, but he doesn’t do that on Match of the Day. Fingers crossed we can change that style.” Here are some of Lineker’s gems this week…
Now Messi has figured out how to take a penalty the world had better watch out.

Insult to injury for Cutler
Quarterback in the NFL is the glamour position, the player who is most often the hero, the guy who gets the girls and the limelight.
However, there are some QBs who get a lot of grief, especially when they’ve just signed a fat, new contract and throw an interception and then get injured trying to tackle the guy they just threw the ball to.
Just another day for Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler, who was intercepted by Tony Jefferson in Sunday’s 48-23 loss to the Arizona Cardinals and then ruled out for the game having injured his hamstring. Twitter was not kind.
Elsewhere in the league, Pittsbrugh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell let Twitter know exactly when he’ll be back in action following a two-week suspension for a DUI charge.

OMG! Did y’all here the terrible news? Jay Cutler had to leave the game — after throwing an INT! Awww! I hope he’s okay. #WasteOfTimeQB

The Jay Cutler contract could be the worst athletic expenditure in the history of Chicago sports.

Tweetlets
Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski was in record-breaking form and, across the pond in the US, NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick’s wife DeLana wasn’t too pleased about Twitter trolls talking smack about her husband.

What I won’t accept is ignorant people talking about me, my child or my husband. If that’s u, don’t let the door hit ya in the ass.

This is tough. It’s not the spirit of the Solheim family. This is a game and somehow we lose perspective in these matches. #sad
