The Arizona Cardinals made history on Monday when they named Jen Welter to the coaching staff as an intern to work with the inside linebackers during training camp and the preseason. Welter is the first woman to hold an NFL coaching position of any kind. Here’s how Twitter reacted to the historic news…
I’m honored to be part of the #BIRDGANG! Love the #footballfamily here with the #ArizonaCardinals #NFL… http://t.co/vPdmyKH2hi

Social media explodes over Brady news
The NFL, on Tuesday, decided to uphold Tom Brady’s four-game suspension for his role in “Deflategate” and the Patriots QB instantly became the No1 trend on Twitter in the United States when the news broke.
Here is some of the reaction to the decision which naturally includes some sarcastic comments directed towards NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who has been criticised for how poorly he handled the whole situation.
Well you can’t say cheaters never win

I still don’t think it’s the biggest deal in the world but it’s just breaking the rules for no reason https://t.co/H6byctfr7Y

In all seriousness..Pats will probably make the playoffs AND they’ll have a better idea of what they have at QB post Brady. They’ll be fine.
— Chris Long (@JOEL9ONE) July 28, 2015
In light of new evidence disclosed today, I understand why they did what they did. If true, this is a bad, bad look for Tom Brady. #Patriots

If any team can over come this its @Patriots

To be fair, Goodell handled Spygate, Bountygate, Rice, concussions and the ref strike so well that he deserves the benefit of the doubt.
— Bill Simmons (@BillSimmons) July 28, 2015
Goodell agrees w the decision Goodell made ….. People everywhere are shocked…. Let’s break that down for the next 4 days Awesome

Dutch have the last laugh
A Mexico fan had been tweeting the Dutch FA every single day since the Netherlands got through to the World Cup quarter-finals last year against Mexico thanks to a questionable penalty.
After 392 daily tweets saying “no era penal”, meaning “it wasn’t a penalty”, the Mexican with the Twitter handle @Josesomor26 finally got a response from the Dutch FA when El Tri won the Gold Cup on Monday.
1 año, 27 días, @KNVB @FIFAcom @miseleccionmx no era penal.

Simulation game turns real
You know the game Football Manager is getting really good at real-life simulation when you get sacked by a club in the virtual world yet end up getting an actual tweet from that club’s official Twitter account.
Check out this exchange between Twitter user @AndyMurray89 and Borussia Monchengladbach.
@FootballManager So the club I get sacked from in the game are mocking me on Twitter, that must be a first! pic.twitter.com/y3mg46o4H9
