  • A Red Devil through and through, Ryan Giggs without doubt is a legend at Manchester United and you only have to look at his CV to see why.

Turning 43 today, the Welshman enjoyed an illustrious 23-year career at Old Trafford before hanging up his boots in 2014.

At his prime, he caused all sorts of problems for the opposition, and it was no surprise that his willingness to constantly dribble and run past the defence made him a fans’ favourite in his 672 appearances – a club record.

He can also look back as being United’s most-decorated player including 13 league titles,  four FA Cups and two Champions League medals.

He also holds the record for most number of assists in the league with 271. On the international stage, he won 64 caps with Wales and captained Great Britain at the 2012 Olympics.

    Other birthdays on this day:

1969: Kasey Keller, ex-goalkeeper for Tottenham, Leicester and Fulham (47).

1977: Younis Khan, former Pakistan skipper and his country’s highest run-scorer in Tests (39).

1977: Eddie Howe, former footballer and now manager of Premier League side Bournemouth (39).

1988: Russell Wilson, American football quarterback for Seattle Seahawks (28).
