Italy’s Matteo Manassero enjoyed a casual game under the floodlights.

Manassero, the youngest winner in European Tour history and Tianlang, who shot to fame as the youngest player ever to make a cut in a Major Championship in 2013 aged only 14, enjoyed a casual game under the floodlights, which presents golfers with a unique opportunity to play even after the sun goes down at the emirate’s pre-eminent golfing venue.

“Abu Dhabi has become much like a second home for me in recent years and I can’t think of many other places on the planet that can boast such impressive facilities for golf,” commented Manassero, now a four-time Tour winner and one of the hottest prospects in the game.

“We have three Championship-ready golf courses and amazing leisure attractions, such as Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld and an abundance of superb hotels, which make Abu Dhabi one of the best tourist destinations in the world for golf.

“I’m thrilled to be here this week and, for me, there is no better way to begin the season. The course here is in incredible condition, amongst the very best we play on all year round, and it was a great experience to try out night golf at Abu Dhabi Golf Club.”

Golf in Abu Dhabi ambassador Manassero will open his 2015 European Tour account against an impressive field, including World No.1 Rory McIlroy, World No.2 Henrik Stenson and American sensation Rickie Fowler, each of whom will compete for the coveted Falcon Trophy in the tenth instalment of the flagship Race to Dubai tournament.

Excited at the prospect of once again welcoming many of the world’s star names, Group General Manager Abu Dhabi Golf Club and Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, Chris Card, said: “With another outstanding field joining us here at Abu Dhabi Golf Club, we are delighted to be hosting the tenth edition of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship and wish both Matteo and Guan all the best in their quest for the title.

“It was fantastic to see them both enjoy our night golf course, which is one of the biggest attractions for our members and international guests looking to benefit from our unparalleled service and facilities.

“With the Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa located a stone’s throw from the first tee, and with the exceptional year-round quality of the golf course, guests have been quick to secure tee times and take to the course in the evening.”
