Shane Lowry has admitted he is spurred on even more to win the Race of Dubai this week by the Republic of Ireland’s Euro 2016 qualification success.
The proud Irishman, 28, watched on television as Martin O’Neill’s men qualified for an international football tournament for the first time since the 2002 World Cup in Japan and Korea, and he is inspired by their success.

“I met up with Martin O’Neill and Roy Keane a couple months ago just before they played Gibraltar and I had a great chat with them for a couple hours one evening,” Lowry, who is ranked fourth in the Race to Dubai, told the media ahead of the DP World Championship.
“It’s when you know people, as well, and you see them doing well, it makes it a whole lot better and a whole lot sweeter. It’s great, everyone knows how Irish I am and how much I love my country.”
And now Lowry is hoping a bit more Irish luck can rub off for him on the greens in the UAE once again.
“To keep the celebrations going this Sunday would be nice, and you know, that’s my goal this week is to go out there and win the tournament and hopefully do enough to win The Race to Dubai.”
