  • Defending champion: Lee Westwood.

Lee Westwood will seek an unprecedented third Thailand Golf Championship win when he defends his title against major-winners Bubba Watson and Martin Kaymer in December, organisers said on Tuesday.

The Englishman will be confident of his chances at Amata Spring Country Club after winning in 2011 and playing a brilliant final round for his second victory last year.

    – Hong Kong: Rose holds firm to win title by one shot

    – Nomura Cup: Japan win 27th edition over Taiwan
    – Oman: Blomstrand wins at Muscat Hills on MENA debut

Sergio Garcia, Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee and Kiradech Aphibarnrat, and Darren Clarke, next year's Ryder Cup and EurAsia Cup captain, are also confirmed for the December 10-13 tournament.

"I have many wonderful memories of playing at Amata Spring," said Westwood, the former world number one who is currently ranked 46th.

"Both my wins are special and both were very different — shooting 60 in 2011 to win by seven, and then putting in a good round in tough conditions last year to win by a shot."

Four places at next year's British Open will also be up for grabs for players who do not already have exemptions.
