  • Solari has endured a difficult few weeks in the job.

Florentino Perez will give Santiago Solari 18 months to further prove his worth at Real Madrid after being left impressed by his new head coach’s crisis management, according to Marca.

Real were reeling from a humiliating 5-1 El Clasico defeat before putting Julen Lopetegui out of his misery and installing Solari as first-team coach.

By rule Madrid had to make a decision over whether to hand Solari the job permanently after 15 days was up, and after four wins out of four, the Argentine made it easy for Perez.

Spanish outlet Marca say Madrid president Perez and Solari will now catch up for their first official meeting, in which the head coach is expected to sign a contract through to June 2020.

On Monday night the Spanish football federation RFEF stated that Solari and Madrid had come to an initial agreement, despite no official announcement from the club.

“Everything is in order. Real Madrid have worked out his contract and there are no problems,” RFEF stated.
