  • Thierry Henry is still searching for his first victory as Monaco boss after his side drew 2-2 with Dijon on Saturday evening.

A hero at Stade Louis II as a young player, Henry returned as manager earlier this month but has not so far had the galvanising effect that had been hoped for by last season’s runners-up.

After losing his opening league clash to Strasbourg, Monaco at least avoided defeat in the Champions League on Wednesday, drawing 1-1 with Club Brugge.

But hopes of a first league win since the opening day of the season against a similarly out-of-form side did not materialise, although they did at least halt a four-game losing run.

They took the lead on the half-hour mark through Benjamin Henrichs but Mickael Alphonse equalised four minutes later and Mehdi Abeid put Dijon ahead early in the second half.

Kamil Glik salvaged a point for Monaco in the 79th minute but they could not find a winner and would have slumped to the bottom of the table but for a late equaliser for Strasbourg at Guingamp.

EAG led through a Nicolas Benezet goal in the seventh minute all the way until Kevin Zohi secured a 1-1 draw in the 89th minute.

Second-placed Lille secured a 1-0 victory over Caen through a 56th-minute goal from Rafael Leao, while Montpellier stayed three points behind after defeating Toulouse 3-0.

They were two up inside 25 minutes thanks to goals from Gaetan Laborde and Andy Delort while Junior Sambia added a third deep into stoppage time.

Lyon battled to a 2-1 victory over 10-man Angers to keep up the pressure on the top three.

Angers have been in fine form and might have scored twice in the opening minutes but the hosts’ hopes were dealt a major blow in the 34th minute when Ismael Traore was sent off for a foul on Moussa Dembele.

Lyon took the lead in the 63rd minute through Hossem Aouar and Dembele was then denied a second when the VAR system determined he was offside.

Dembele set up Memphis Depay for what proved to be the winner in the 87th minute, but there was still time for Cristian Lopez to pull one back.

Nantes climbed out of the bottom three and were replaced by Amiens after winning 2-1 at the Stade de la Licorne.

Gabriel Boschilia put Nantes ahead in the 16th minute and Emiliano Sala doubled their advantage 19 minutes from time, with Mathieu Bodmer’s goal 11 minutes later not enough to change the result.
