Barcelona’s official spokesperson Josep Vives has voiced a strong opinion in favour of the use of VAR.
The VAR made its debut in La Liga this season, after successful implementation in the 2018 World Cup. However, it has not been received particularly well. The VAR has attracted a lot of criticism all over Europe, most recently by Real Madrid after their 2-0 defeat to Real Sociedad.

But Barcelona are happy with its implementation, according to Vives.
“The Barcelona board always defended the implementation of the VAR to help football and referees,” he told reporters during a regular meeting held on Tuesday at Camp Nou, according to Marca.
“Keep in mind that this is something new, which normally takes time to break in.
“We view it as a magnificent tool, although we know that it can harm us in some moments.”
VAR will be used in the knockout stage of the Champions League this season and it will be the first time that the technology will be implemented in the competition.
