The Pro League Committee has announced the launch of three monthly awards for stars of the Arabian Gulf League, for the first time in the competition’s history.

The awards will cover three categories; Player of the Month, Goalkeeper of the Month and Coach of the Month and will be judged on performances in the Arabian Gulf League only.

The first edition of the award kicked-off at midnight on Monday with the announcement of the September nominees based on statistics provided by sports data company “Sportradar”. The Player of the Month shortlist is spearheaded by 2016/17’s AGL Young Player of the Year Khalfan Mubarak from Al Jazira.

Mubarak, 23, has notched an incredible seven assists in four top-flight matches this term, four more than any other player. On September 15, he created all three goals in the 3-2 victory against promoted Fujairah at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium.

The Emirati playmaker is joined by Sharjah’s Igor Coronado and Al Ain’s Egypt midfielder Hussein El Shahat.

Coronado has swiftly made light of the €6 million (Dh25.4m) fee paid to Palermo this summer. The Brazilian creator has five goals and two assists.

El Shahat was utterly outstanding in last Friday’s 2-1 victory against Shabab Al Ahli Dubai Club, a match in which he opened the scoring.

In the running for Goalkeeper of the Month is Ittihad Kalba custodian Mohammed Al Bairaq, Bani Yas’ Fahd Al Dhanhani and Al Ain’s Khalid Essa.

Meanwhile, unbeaten trio Abdulaziz Al Anbari from Sharjah, Zoran Mamic from Al Ain and Marcel Keizer from Jazira vie for the Coach of the Month award.

The PLC is offering fans the opportunity to vote for their preferred nominees through the website http://motm.agleague.ae. The vote started just before midnight on Monday October 1, 2018 and continues for 48 hours through to the end of Wednesday.

After the conclusion of the votes, the winners will be announced on the PLC’s official social media accounts and will receive the award ahead of kick-off of their respective teams fixtures in the matchweek following the announcement of the results.
